Moving from Panama to China

From Panama to Shanghai or Beijing, with long-haul logistics you can rely on.

China, a global economic powerhouse, welcomes professionals and families relocating for work and business. We coordinate moves from Panama to Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and other cities, by sea or air freight, with the handling such a vast and tightly regulated destination requires.

This is a corridor where customs is not negotiable and where the residence permit conditions everything. With the file properly built it is a perfectly workable destination; without it, the cargo does not move.

How we move your home to China

We calculate volume, pack with export-grade materials, and manage the long-haul freight. We coordinate customs clearance and final delivery with our agents in China, in your destination city.

Volume is measured in cubic meters (CBM). In an exclusive container (FCL) your goods travel alone and are sealed at your home; in a shared container (LCL or groupage) they share space with other cargo, are consolidated in a warehouse before sailing, and are deconsolidated in another one on arrival. On a corridor this long, the volume you decide to leave in Panama is money you do not spend.

Cargo enters through one of the major Chinese ports — Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen, or Tianjin, depending on your destination — and continues overland from there. The exact port depends on the service contracted and is confirmed in your quote.

Chinese customs and the permit that conditions everything

China allows the entry of personal effects belonging to foreigners settling in the country, but the process rests entirely on your immigration situation: the residence permit or work visa is the piece without which there is no clearance. Cargo that arrives ahead of that document waits at the port, accumulating storage.

There is also a sequencing rule worth knowing from the start: the entry of personal effects is usually allowed in a single operation and within a time window referenced to your first entry into the country on that permit. You cannot send half now and the other half next year. The shipping plan is therefore built backwards: first your immigration calendar, then the container date.

Documentation rests on the passport, the residence permit or visa, and a valued, detailed packing list translated into Chinese, with every carton described by its real contents. Here the translation is not decoration: it is what the inspector reads.

Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou

China takes in executives, teachers, researchers, and families for its economy and for the opportunities of an enormous market. Shanghai concentrates the international community and the services; Beijing, government, universities, and head offices; Shenzhen and Guangzhou, the industry and technology of the south.

Inland distances are continental and the country is very well connected, but the last mile varies a great deal by city and building type. Residential complexes usually have their own access rules, service hours, and elevator bookings. It is coordinated in advance.

Before you ship: what to settle in Panama

Do not ship before your residence permit or visa is resolved. It is rule number one on this corridor and the most common cause of detained cargo.

Look at what goes into the boxes. China regulates the entry of printed, audiovisual, and digital material, as well as religious articles, communications equipment, and drones, among other categories. It is not a question of quantity but of content. If you have any doubt about something, ask us before packing it, not after.

Check the voltage. The Chinese grid runs at 220 volts and 50 hertz; Panama's at 110 volts and 60 hertz. Modern electronics usually accepts both ranges — the power supply label says so — but large appliances with a motor or a heating element usually do not.

The car travels on its own track, under a heavily regulated import, and is assessed case by case. The pet never travels in the container: it leaves Panama with the process handled through MIDA and MINSA and enters China under a health regime that can include quarantine, with rules that also vary by city.
